So me and few buddies are moving into a house in a few months, and we are getting so confused with the amount of mbps we need for our internet connection. We've heard different things from different people, but just wanted some clarification.

So pretty much here is our situation. At most, we'll have 5-6 computers connected to the wi-fi at one time. We do not plan on online gaming, but we do watch HD netflix every once a while. We want a pretty fast connection, so we don't have to wait a century for downloads nor do we want to wait on buffering when watching videos online.

What's the suggested mbps we should order and pay for from the cable company?

Hi, Its an interesting question, but maybe it would be wise to come at it from a different direction....?

Ask your ISP (cable company) what speeds are available at your location and they should be able to give you a steer as to their recommendations.

Most folks would say the faster the better..... but it does depend on the usage you are likely to need... for example if 5 folks are all streaming video at the same time whilst someone else is downloading then you are going to need a pretty high speed ( - bandwidth) to start with)

If your ISP can support around 100Mbits per sec or so (down) then it should provide a reasonable level of performance....
