Software to replace MS Security Essentials

I need an antivirus program to protect my laptop, now that Windows XP is no longer supported. Security Essentials isn't working anymore.

Microsoft Security Essentials still works with XP. The only thing changing is that the definitions are scheduled to end in April 2015 (one year past the end of support for XP).

 

Avast Esssentials is a good free alternative: http://download.cnet...4-10019223.html

Avast is what I switched to also.
