I've been working on some other "issues" here at geekstogo and I was referred to this forum for help with a speed issue.  My local area connection is now running at 10.Mbps whereas it has always run at 100.0Mbps in the past.  Another desktop on the same network is still running at 100.0Mbps.  This has limited my dl speed to 9.8 or so where in the past it has been somewhere between 30 & 40 Mbps as tested on speedtest.net.  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

I have done a system restore when I started having malware problems which are being addressed in another forum.  This did not correct the speed issues.   Sometimes at startup then icon in the lower right will flash at 100.Mbps, then at 10.0Mbps, back and forth until finally staying at 10.0 Mbps.  I tried connecting and disconnecting the cat5 cable with no success.  Could this be an issue with the connection for the cat5 cable in the computer?  Thanks!

Does the same thing happen in Safe Mode with Networking?

I haven't tried safe mode w networking.  I'll give that a try and let you know the results.  i'd have to buy a new adapter to try if that solves the problem.

The USB is cheaper and you won't have to open the case.

I tried safe mode with networking...still 10Mbps.

Hi SpywareDr!  I got the new NIC today, installed it and speeds are back above 30Mbps, so I think the problem is solved.  I've never had an ethernet connector on a motherboardgo bad before. Thanks for your help!!
