I'm replacing a drive that is primarily used for streaming and recording internet and over the air shows and movies..

Average file recorded size is 11/2 to 4 gig's.

I'm looking for some input as to which would be better.

SSD or conventional mechanical drive?

I like the idea of the speed with the SSD, but I'm concerned about the number of writes.

Any help out there.

Apologies for the delay in you receiving a reply  :(

SSDs are great for having the OS on as they boot up so much faster, they are however still too expensive to consider using as a large storage device, £340+ in the UK/$450+ in the USA for a quality brand 1TB SSD for example.

For the pros and cons of an SSD vs a mechanical HDD OCZ have a helpful guide here

Hope this helps.
