Hi,

I'm glad you managed to backup all your data.

Did Dell ask you to test the Hard Drive? I don't think it was a malware problem most likely an hardware problem or a damaged partition table.

Hi SD,

No, I did not. I let her do what she wanted but it was blocking her from doing things. That's when she decided to send me new OS disks under my warranty. They are sending them via FedEx, so I should have them in a day or two.

I was beginning to think the same thing (hardware issue), as my HD pretty much came up clean with the exception of the MixiDJ Conduit thing.

Yes, all backed up, but will take me forever to get everything back the way it was.

Dell is supposed to call me once I receive the disks, I will mention the HD test as this machine is still under warranty until July.

Also, since I am having to use my wife's laptop, I decided to run Adware Cleaner and MBAM. It found a couple PUP's and Conduit. Sigh, guess I will go post a new thread for her machine.

Yep it sucks. The best option is to have full backup images updated regularly to avoid all that work.

If you press F12 on boot you should have access to the Dell diagnostic tools and test the Hard Disk. If you get any error code it should be reported to Dell support because it could mean a bad HDD.

Funny, I was posting a message above while you were posting. Ok, I will try that today. Thanks my friend

Just to update you. Yes, I ran the Diagnostics the other day and all came up ok. New OS Disks just arrived from FedEx, so starting the new install now.

Thanks Sleepy Dude!!
