Will a black ink cartridge (say for an HP 1050 All-in-One printer) even fit into the slot designated for a color cartridge? Will a color cartridge fit into the black slot? Or are the cartridges built to only fit into the designated slots? Thanks

Generally, it will only fit into the correct location. I don't know if there are any which can be put in the wrong location, but that does not mean that there isn't one that allows it.

Kemasa: Thank you.

I think I <demonstrated> that when I tried to put a black cartridge into the colored slot but could not do so. Good to know it was not just because I  was clumsy.  ...batpark
