A few days ago the touch screen on my laptop stopped working. I did a system Refresh and that didn't help. I did a full system restore and that didn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Details:

HP Pavilion Sleekbook 14-b050xx

Windows 8

:welcome:   robertpatterson1985

Is the touchscreen option enabled (it should be by default)

Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Pen and Touch,

Is the box that says "Use your finger as an input device." checked/have a tick in it.

Have you checked the Device Manager for any yellow ! or red Xs and in particular the HID entries, has the screen been disabled/removed from there.

Run the HP Scan now tool to see if any updates are suggested, details here

As the touchscreen is normally enabled by default so it may not be a Windows issue and especially as you have done both a system refresh and system restore but without success, there are some Microsoft suggestions here that you can try though.

Had you made any software or hardware changes just before the problem first became apparent.

Have you tried restoring the MBs default factory settings in the BIOS;

To access the BIOS on a HP computer;

  • Press the F1F10, or F11 key after restarting the computer.
  • HP Tablet PCs may use F10 or F12.
  • Other HP computers may allow access to BIOS using the F2 or Esc keys.

If the above does not resolve the issue and the computer is covered by a warranty I would have HP put it right even if they need to replace the computer with a new one.
