Compaq SR1215cl XP Product # PJ506AA ____will boot up and go to windows desktop--THEN STOPS, no icons, nothing there, cannot bring up anything past desktop background. Nothing in Bios mode for Recovery______ please help, I need this PC. Thank You for listening

Can you boot to Safe Mode by pressing F8 during the boot process then login as Administrator?

If yes, you could try creating a new user account then boot normally and see if you can login as the new account.

If yes, copy everything from the old,non working account to the new account.
