I don't think either of the programs you mention is going to do what you want. I would use a gmail email account. They use a secure interface when you get your mail from gmail.com and you can set it up for free. Then to make sure I would get 7-zip install it then when I want to send a file I would right click on the file and select 7-zip, Add to Archive
Then use the Archive format of .zip
and
Encryption Method of AES-256
Then give it a nice long password which I had previously shared with the person I was sending the file to.
They need 7-zip on their end in order to decode it. (Right click on the file and select 7-zip, Open Archive, put in the password and Extract the files.)
Practice before you go.
There are also programs which allow you to setup a VPN if you need to do more than just send files.
