Hello, I am starting to work from home. And I failed the Belarc test. I am trying to use my laptop to work from. I have had it for 3 years now. It is a Acer Aspire 7741z-4433. The reasons I failed was because it couldn't Identify my monitor. It says Intel Generic PnP when I need it to say Acer Aspire 7741z. I don't have the original CD that it came with in order to install the right monitor drive. Please help and also the second reason I failed was because I have a wireless adapter. I called Acer and they won't help me because I have warranty. Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go forums.

The Belarc Adviser is not a test that is either passed or failed, but is however a very useful application for listing the components and details of your computer's systems.

Here are two questions for you to answer please:

1 Is the screen on your laptop computer working satisfactorily?

2 Is your wireless network adapter card working satisfactorily (allows you to connect to the Internet wirelessly)

If the answer to  both questions is "Yes" then it is OK to leave matters as they are, as no actions on your part are mandatory.

however if you are experiencing difficulties then please advise the symptoms you are experiencing and either I, or one of our other members will get back to you with some suggestions for your consideration.

Regards

Hi paws,
My screen is fine and also my wireless adapter. But since I'm working from home I can't have generic pnp as my display monitor or wireless Internet. I need to be hardwired and I don't have my Acer cd that came with my laptop in order to download that drive for the monitor.

Hi, just to check that I am understanding you correctly, is it correct that both your screen and your wireless network adapter are working satisfactorily?
Please advise

If I understand your question correctly you are saying that yes your hardware (wifi and display) are working perfectly but your employer will not accept you to work at home using a wireless connection and a generic display.

If that is so please go to the link below to download the drivers for your specific notebook

http://us.acer.com/a...content/drivers

Since you did not specify what country you are from this link is for US resident

you should find this driver for your wired ethrnet

Lan Broadcom LAN Driver 12.4.0.3

And for your screen you can try ones of these

VGA AMD VGA Driver (Radeon HD 6370M / 6550M) 8.763.1.1000

VGA AMD VGA Driver (Mobility Radeon HD 5450 / 5650) 8.741.1.5000 VGA

Intel VGA Driver 8.15.10.2189

If one of these does not help you can try this one

Chipset Intel Chipset Driver 9.1.1.1025

To my knowledge there are no specific model number for a notebook display (screen) but try them and see if makes a difference.

Hope that helps
