Hi All,
I've read related threads on the forum.
I've issues with my computer which suddenly shut down and upon re-booting, display the POST screen briefly and later "No Video Signal"
Prior to the PC shutting down, I heard a noise like sometime fell inside and when opened the side cover after seeing the "No Video Signal" message, one of the plastic extension which enable the heat-sink to click when mounted on the CPU was broken, thus, slightly disengaging the heat-sink fan from the CPU.
The PC specs is as follows:
- Mobo: Winfast N15235
- CPU Socket is Foxconn AM2 LF
- CPU is AMD Athlon 64 x2 Processor (dual core)
- Onboard graphics
I've tried the following diagnosis to no avail:
- LCD monitor works with my laptop
- Re-seat the RAMs (two: 1G and 512; which is unlikely both failed at the same time) and cleaned the
edges and the RAMs slots. Swap each RAM at a time in alternative RAM slot positions.
- Reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery, power on and put back the battery
- Measure all the power supply voltages and even try with a different PSU
- Can't hear any beep codes so can tell if CPU or mobo is faulty
What i'm considering doing:
- Try and external PCIe VGA card and see if it helps
- Buy a new / replacement CPU, since the fault was as a result of the heat-sink fan not making contact. The CPU do gets warn if the CPU fan is unplugged -- does this indicate the CPU is fine?
- Will the speccy software render any help, since i can't see any POST screen?
I'm waiting for the Foxconn mobo manual to download:

Please, in the interim, any ideas other than the above will be appreciated.
Regards
Paul
