I dont know if I got the right department or not. My question is I keep getting text messages from a local phone number claiming to be someone I know. The number shows up on my phone but doesn't show up on my phone bill and when I text back to tell the person to call me they tell me they are calling from a computer and can not. How can I tell if it is a computer they are calling from? The number is local to me but is 7 hrs away from where they claim they are. How can they use a number in a computer that is not local to them? Is there anyway I can find info on this?

Thank you

If the person knew you why have they not said who they are and why they are contacting you in the first place.

Make a note of the number and do a Google search using something like " what is the number 402-875-9195 "

If the person is becoming a nuisance report them.

Some further information on this type of unsolicited text message or phone call here and here.
