Hi There,

Well, I'm new and really need your help here ;)

i have an issue with running Chrome Browser.

Wach time i'm getting the following error meaasge:

"The problem can't start because chrome_elf.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"

Now, i have tried anything! i have download the chrome_elf dll file, copied / replaced to the Win/sys32 and Chrome Folder.

I have remove and reinstalled it over and over again.

When i replace the dll file i'm getting another error message:

"CreateFileW could not be located in dynamic link library chrome_elf.dll"

I really, really don't want to use the format action...

So, please need your kind help! to fix this issue...

It will be very appreciated

Hi iamnornal,

You're welcome! :)

Hm? Ok....Have you ever had Emsisoft or BitDefender installed before? The reason I ask is because it seems many other Chrome users are having the same problem as you are and it appears that their problems began after their Emsisoft Anti Malware software had updated, though please don't quote me on that assumption. Still trying to verify that possibility.

What you may want to try is to download and older version of the Chrome browser from oldapps to your desktop.

Disconnect from the internet (you will be unprotected during the next process) and then disable AVG. Uninstall Google Chrome from Control Panel > Programs and Features then reinstall the older version of chrome.

Let me know what you decide to do and the results.

iamnornal,

Just thought of something. Is the file found in the quarantine folder of AVG?

Ok. Not to worry. I'm going to move your thread to the malware removal forum so we can run some indepth scans.

Give me a moment here and I'll be back after the move with further instructions. :)

Ok. iamnornal. Got your thread moved.....

Please do the following and post the logs generated in your next reply:

Please download OTL to your Desktop

  • Double click on the OTLicon.jpg to run the program. On Vista/Win7 or 8 right click select Run As Administrator to start the program. If prompted by UAC, please allow it.
  • Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Click the Scan All Users checkbox
    and
  • Check the option for All under the Extra Registry section
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan won't take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files and post them in your topic
  • OTL.txt <-- Will be opened, maximized
  • Extras.txt <-- Will be minimized on task bar.

Please post the contents of both OTL.txt and Extras.txt files in your next reply.
