Intermittently losing connection

I have an HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC with an intel centrino wireless-n 2230 adapter. It drops the wireless connection often for seconds up to 5 minutes at a time. Sometimes this happens once an hour, other times 10 times per hour with no rhyme or reason that I can discern. All browsers get hung up not loading, as well as other programs that try to connect. The connection shows strong in the taskbar, though. I have tried changing the connection to 802.11g only and increased the aggressiveness of the connection to no avail. There were no connection problems up until about 6 months ago (I dont know of changes made that would have caused it). Thanks for your help in advance.

Open your device manager, hit the start button then copy and paste devmgmt.msc into the start search box hit enter.

Left click the + next to network adapters, right click and un-install your wireless driver and your ethernet driver, make sure and do not tick the box that says delete driver.

Then, click the View menu and select Show hidden devices
Then hit view again and select devices by connection.

Then scroll down right click and uninstall the drivers listed below,dont worry these will be reinstalled upon reboot by windows.

Each of these files will request a reboot after uninstall wait until the last one to reboot.

Run This to find the best dns server for your machine, shut down your antivirus while it runs.

Then once the tool has completed, and displayed the best DNS for your machine, apply the settings.

Run a Command as Administrator from the Windows 7 ...

Copy and paste the content of the code box, one at a time hitting enter after each.

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns

Then disable Ipv6 with this Ms Fixit.

Remove the tunnel adapters, with this Ms Fixit.

Download TCP Optimizer.
Save it to your desktop.
Right Click Run As Administrator.
At the bottom right hand corner, of TCP optimizer select optimal
The hit apply, ok, and ok again then reboot.

I followed your steps successfully, but my computer (wireless adapter) is still dropping the connection intermittently although it doesnt show that it is dropped...just nothing happening or loading. Additional suggestions? Thanks!

Flush DNS
Reset FF proxy Settings
Reset Ie Proxy Settings
Report IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer log
List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size
List Devices (problems only)

Click Go and post the result.

I suggest that you download CCLEANER then run it, hit the option's button then settings,put a tick next to Run Ccleaner when the computer starts.
Also when in options go to advanced tab and put a tick next to close program after cleaning.
This will automate the temporary file removal on your machine and keep it speedy.
Disable all of the start ups on the machine except your antivirus.
To disable hit the tools button then the start up button,then disable.

Reset your hosts file, with the Ms fix it below.

Hit the start button at the bottom left hand corner of your Screen.
Type or copy and paste appwiz.cpl into the Run Box.
Hit enter.
Scroll down to the following item(s): Note: If you encounter a program that will not remove or is not listed then skip it please.

As an alternative you may use Revo Uninstaller Freeware Here is a good tutorial on the use of Revo Uninstaller.

Right Click one at a time and select remove.
Now close the programs and features window.
Once finished reboot the machine.

Install a less problematic AV

I am still encountering loss of connection at times. I can't really say if it is any better or worse than before. I appreciate any suggestions.

I changed the channel from 6 to 1 because there was an overlapping channel. The signal strength is usually about -38. Again, I lose the connection at times, but it didnt really show any change in signal strength using inSSIDer. Thanks!

Can you please post a new minitoolbox log.

One when the connection is fine and one when you lose the connection I would like to see what is happening. ( I want to compare the two logs and root out the difference.)
