Question:

Which software would be the best to use as a secondary anti-virus,adware and spyware scanner.?

I already have Norton's Internet security suite 2014 installed.

I know you should not have 2 anti-viruses running on a system at once, but i would like to use a second software to just do periodic scans.

Just to make sure my system stays clean, i also know one anti-virus does not always find everything.

I like Malewarebytes Anti-Malware used it in the past, any other suggestions are appreciated.

I use Malware Bytes Anti Malware Pro (now called Premium) along with my anti-virus which is Windows Defender that is built into Windows 8.
