It is possible that the files are either temps/orphans or duplicates, have you confirmed that all of your important data has been backed up.

I've briefly ran through my important files. Yes. They are all backed up.

No worries. Since I've managed to back up my files, and my hard disk is still under the warranty period, I will proceed to get it replaced by Western Digital.
