Hey everyone,

I've had my machine checked out and it's been clean however, it seems that my computer isn't running the way I believe it's supposed to be. I've been wondering if it could be the OS.

Here are some specs:

I appreciate any help with this! I was wondering if I can make my computer faster or try to downgrade.

Hi there fellow geek.
With those specs it should not be slow at all. Windows 8 is a very fast OS and it shouldn't by itself be slow at all.
If it really is clean, I would perform hardware checks on the memory and hard drive to see if they are all ok.

I would try making a bootable disk of seatools from here and check the hard drive.

Then do the same with memtest from here.

See if anything shows.

Sadly I do not believe I have a CD lying around. I'll see if I can find one though.

Try to do some maintenance to your system, that sometimes works

Also; make sure your main hard drive is not full

or if you have a flash drive you can make a bootable one for this purpose.

Seatools can be run in windows http://www.seagate.c...ols-win-master/

What kind of scans do you want me to do? Here is my screen:

Click on basic tests and do a long scan. It will scan the entire drive.

And here is the link for memtest that can be installed on a flash drive.

Running the "Long Generic" test. Will post results once completed. I'm assuming I can do things while the scan is going yes?

What kind of test do I need for that? I'll run that after the Seagate.

Yes you can use the machine as normal, might just run a bit slower.

Memtest just runs and goes ahead with its own scan. It basically just does one thing which is fill up the memory and keep writing and reading from it to check if the information it puts in is the same as comes out without corruption.

The screen that runs is blue, and while it's all blue its good.

If you see any red such as below,

index.jpg

Then there is faulty memory.

Awesome. After the Seagate scan, I'll run that one seeing as it fills memory and such. I appreciate your time also :geek:
