Did you manually delete the MBAM found items or did you let MBAM remove them?

Then there should be a log somewhere; let me check and see if I can find where it would be.  In the meantime, I would suggest following the advice of the Technical staff here as they are very good at what they do.  I'm just checking that we are not running in circles since some malware will tamper with networking and hide itself very well.

If you can find the log and view it in plain text, you could copy and paste the text here in a reply.  That is really all I'm looking for; I just wanted to see what types of malware was detected by MBAM.  Thanks.

Hello folks,

swifter443, just chiming in to let you know that I am staying out of the way until dbreeze has the information needed to determine if this is a malware issue or not.

Thanks dbreeze

Can you provide the names of the trojan, spyware and malware?  I can do some research based on those and see if anything raises any flags that way.  Thanks.

Did any of them have the program or file name of 'Optimizer Pro'?  (I'm thinking that this is the case for the SProtector infection but I need you to confirm this if you can.)

And just to confirm, the laptop runs well (boots into normal desktop mode) but just does not see any wireless networking at all?  Do you have a spare USB stick / drive that can be used to transfer files back and forth?

Thank you for the information, swifter443.  That tells me what I was looking for and I would like to have your system checked in our malware board.  If you follow the steps here ( BEGIN HERE: Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide » ) then you will only need to do find a USB stick to transfer files to a internet connected system (a removal specialist will have to look at the logs produced to ensure the system is cleaned properly).  When you start the thread on the malware board, please mention that we directed you there and we will wait for the all clear from there before helping you here.

Since this system does not have network access at this time, just copy the OTL file to a USB drive, run it on the affected system, copy the logs back onto the USB drive and then post them in the Malware thread.  Since MBAM has already broken part of the infection, this cleaning shouldn't take too long but one can not tell without looking at the logs for details.

If you have any questions, come back and ask; I'll be glad to answer all I can.

The malware board (and GeeksToGo) is manned by voluteers from around the world so it is open and active 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  There is no charge for the removal / repair advice services.

Because there could be quite a lot of writing back and forth to get the system clean, we recommend a USB drive.  IF the laptop has a wired network connection and that works to get to your router, then you can connect that way and not have to use a USB / CD to transfer files and / or logs.  I was just trying to help you prepare for what may be ahead in the cleaning; it may actually only be one log and one fix script but it may also be quite a bit more.
