Problems with Sony Vaio PCV-RX641

April 28, I scanned for viruses, and spam ware, no viruses found, but in System Mechanic 5 It found a spyware; something like spybot.net, So I let it remove it as usual. But the following morning when I turned on the pc, it kept looping, first I would see the sony logo, then the black and white list of what the pc has, then the XP logo screen. Then i got the black and white screen that says, sorry for the inconvenience but windows did not start normaly, and it gave me a choice of 3 different types of safe mode, and start normally or last known good config. and a 30 sec couint down. On this screen it won't accept anything and just keeps looping. BUT, if during the sony logo, I hold down the F8 key for 8 to 10 seconds, it takes me to a more detailed list of options of safe mode stuff. Yet the only one that I tried that it will let me into is last known good config. I also tried all three safe mode choices and they all loop.
So I contacted Sony through there chat. They always recommend reformatting. But I don't see why I should have to. There MUST be another way.
Then, I decided that I should get all of my 14 GB of saved data of the D partition while I have a chance to. But I was only able to burn about half of it before the cat decided to touch the pretty blue power light on the front of the pc (when she did this, I was NOT burning anything), and when I turned it back on and F8'd and went to open the cd wr drive again, I found out that it disappeared. In device manager, it has a ! so I remove it and try to restart, F8 and all of that, and it STill does not show under MY COMPUTER, and has a ! I tried updating, didn't work. So I tried to install my USB2 Pacific Digital CD-RW drive not relizing that it doesn't matter because it relies on the drivers that must be corrupt. I did download some drivers from there website but it does not recognize them. In the device manager it acknowleges both of the drives with the proper text and an ! and no drive letter. So now I have two ! in device manager, one external USB2, and one internal CD-RW drive.
At this point all I want to do, is get "a" cd writer to work so that I can burn my files and then I will feel better about restoring or reformatting. Oh I also tried going back in time only to find that all my previously saved restore point had ALSO disappeared. And I had a Directory called sun/misc listed under other places to go along with my c d and a drive, so I thought it was a virus so I downloaded the files on that "if you suspect a virus or spam page", I'm still working with those programs so I can get the log file for you. So what do you think?
