That is correct.

That program does not exist in the Programs and Features. The only thing similar is labeled "Microsoft .NET framework 4.5.1".

Also I noticed a bunch of Microsoft Visual C++ in that list....seems redundant and suspicious to me. See attachment.

I followed the instructions, but the repair tool did not resolve the issue. It left several logs in the following locations:

Do you want to look at any of them?

The C++ are normal, they are updates. Is it still just the dotnet updates causing a problem ?

Could you attach these two logs :

C:\Users\milbus21\AppData\Local\Temp\dd_SetupUtility.txt
C:\Users\milbus21\AppData\Local\Temp\FixDotNet.log

It appears that even MS does not know how to fix this for sure

1. Close any currently running applications.
2. Click Start, and type Uninstall in the Search box and then click Uninstall a program.
3. Double-click Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 to launch the .NET Framework 4.5.1 Maintenance dialog.
4. Select Repair .NET Framework 4.5.1 to its original state and click Next.
5. Allow the repair to complete and then click Finish.
6. Click Restart Now to restart your computer.
7. Run a manual check for updates and attempt to install the update(s) again.

I had already did that before you asked. The problem could not be fixed by trying to repair that instance of the .NET framework.

To be honest I am running out of ideas on this one.  Do you have programmes that use the net framework ?

I'd have to say no. The user is not that computer savvy/literate. For the most part, the laptop functions at an acceptable level for the user, and I realize, now, that she or I may be pulling hairs. I would have wiped it if I had the install disk it came with, but she is not the first owner, and the discs were never handed down.

Lets wrap this up, and cut the losses.

I will be donating to you for your diligence. I appreciate it, immensely. Thank you for your help. Close the thread when you're ready.

Thanks again.
