To Whom It May Concern:

My friend gave me her Windows 7  laptop which has no CD ROM and does not boot up in Windows nor in Safe Mode.  It does show this message:

 

LogonUI.exe - Bad Image

C:\\Windows\system32\RpcRtRemote.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

 

My freind does not remember installing anything on her laptop and of course there is no reinstall disc secondary to no CD ROM.  

 

1. Is there anything I can do other than trying to reinstall Windows 7?

2. And if reinstalling the OS is the only option, how do I do it without a CD ROM?

Please provide information about your computer, this includes is it a notebook or desktop, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if it is a brand name provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build post the brand and model name or number for the MB, add on video card if one is used and the PSU (power supply unit) providing these details will enable us to better assist you.

It's possible you may have a hidden partition that will allow you to restore back to factory settings!!

Thank you for your response.  It is a ASUS Model: X401A MB ver: X401A;  laptop Win7 Home Prem

I can only get into the BIOS

I can't boot in safe mode, so I don't know about the video card and as far as the power supply, what kind of information are you looking for?  It is an AC/DC adapter model: ADP- 65JH BB input: 100-240V~1.5A (1,5A50-60Hz LPS)

output: 19V  3.42A(3,42A)

Hello David! I have never worked on a ASUS! See if this helps. It should take you back to factory settings!
