SO. Lately I've been getting the occasional BSOD and while it's still easy enough to work around, I find it very irritating. According to BlueScreenView, the problem appears to be tcpip.sys. I'm don't consider myself tech savvy, but I do figure I'm decently good with computers at least. Unfortunately, I have no idea what most of the information actually means. :/

Attached is the minidump file with the hopes someone can lead me in the right direction. Thank you in advance for the help. *bows respectfully*

Hi icetalon92 :welcome: ,

as you stated, the minidump does indeed refer to tcpip.sys.

It is possible that it is a driver issue but there are also a few other possible causes so we will need to go through a few stages to isolate the issue.

For example, a security program could be causing the issue, hard drive problem, memory problem.

It looks like you are running  Windows 7 SP1 64 bit , is this correct?

What security program(if any) are you using? What is the make and model of your computer? Any and all information would be helpful.

My apologies.

Yes, I am indeed running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit.

I use Avast Antivirus as my primary, with Malwarebytes and Advanced System Care Ultimate as backups (ASCU has the antivirus disabled).

My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6-6135dx.

Advanced System Care doesn't have a great reputation around here.

It is your choice of course, but whilst you are troubleshooting, I would recommend completely uninstalling the product.

The features below are unlikely to make any difference to your computer, well certainly not in a good way and registry cleaners in particular can be very dangerous.

  • Ultimate System Tuneup for Top Performance
  • Maximum Hard Drive Performance
  • 300% Internet Speedup with Internet Booster
  • Real-time Optimization with Active Optimize
  • Deep Windows Registry Clean

I don't know how the internet speedup features perform their supposed improvements BUT if it is in any way altering the network features of your computer (I'm sure you see where I am going here) then it is a suspect at this moment in time. Also as this particular error can be caused by hard drive issues, another point to consider.

You seem to be pretty savvy (more than you think) so I will give you a list of recommendations.  If you need help in any of the steps then please ask and I will help you in more detail.

Please post back with your findings and how you get on.

Windbg indicates mbamservice.ex as the cause and fwpkclnt.sys (Microsoft Windows IPsec Kernel-Mode API file) as a possible contributor.

I'd suggest uninstalling MBAM for awhile and see if the problem disappears. If yes, see if there is a newer version available and try that.

Are you using the free or paid version of MBAM?

I've had Advanced System Care for a number of months and no problems there. As to your question, Ztruker, I'm using a paid version of MBAM. The problem only started maybe a week ago, to which I've had MBAM for a month or so now. I'll try uninstalling both products and seeing what happens.

While the stuff is running, may I ask why ASC isn't held in even good regards here?

Advance System Care and all other IObit software has been uninstalled and memtest ran four passes with no errors. I recently installed a new piece of memory to replace my old one as that was causing other blue screens previously. Currently installing SeaTools for a hard drive deal. Haven't had another blue screen since the one posted about. They didn't happen frequently, and I believe that was the second or third. I'll post more once SeaTools is done.

And the results are in. Did multiple scans (S.M.A.R.T., Short Drive, Short Generic) and all passed without error. I've still not had any new blue screens since, but I will make sure to post if anything new happens. Thank you all very much for the help. c:

It's all good. I honestly wouldn't expect anyone to watch the forums waiting for a reply when I could have had the results sooner. x3

Welp, until I just happen to get another BSOD, I believe my problem is solved. ^.^

Since you have the paid version of MBAM, please contact them and let them know the problem you had and send them the mini-dump. They are very responsive and want to fix any problems.
