I have a Seagate 2 terabyte external hard drive that was connected to a Dell XPS 410 running Vista. That computer is infected with
Green Dot Money Pac. I unplugged the Seagate as soon as I new the ransomware was there. Everything but the OS is on that hard drive. I have a new
Dell laptop that I need to put all of the files in the Seagate onto. I suspect the external drive is infected also. Is there a safe way to scan and destroy the ransomeware on the external drive before I start copying files? Can I keep the external drive isolated if I connect to the laptop and run Malware Bytes?
I'm not tech savvy but I can work around command prompt with directions. By the way, the EXP is pretty much completely taken over. After I went to safe mode on it I discovered the ransomware. It has completely locked me out of command promt and used up massive amounts of memory. It was very fast. I'll worry about that machine later, maybe. It was built in 2006. Any information will be greatlyappreciated. Please be specific. Old guys like me aren't hip to all the lingo.
Thanks
