I know exactly what you're trying to do, I'm just booting up a VM with an English version of Windows on it so I can tell you exactly which options to check in the Folder Options. Give me a few minutes please.

Alright so !

• Go in your Windows Explorer and press on the Alt key, a new menu will appear at the top of the window;
• Click on Tools then select Folder Options;
• On the Folder Options window, go under the Navigation pane box and check both checkboxes : "Show all folders" and "Automatically expand to current folder";

And you're done

I know exactly what you're trying to do, I'm just booting up a VM with an English version of Windows on it so I can tell you exactly which options to check in the Folder Options. Give me a few minutes please.

Alright so !

You may want to also change the following Folder option in Control Panel.

Check Automatically expand to current folder.

 

 

That way, when you work through folders in the right pane, the left pane will open and expand to follow. This should be the default setting but it isn't.

Aura: Still having trouble:

I get to Windows Explorer (by pressing Winkey + E).

I press the Alt key -- but all I see at the top is the appearance of some slight changes (letters F C V and E appear).  I do not see Tools in the left-hand listing or any of the sub-options Folder Options or Navigation pane or the two sub boxes you tell me to check off.

 

Whatever could I be doing wrong?  ... batpark

OH true you're under Windows 8 ! My bad ! Okay go in the Windows Explorer, click on the View tab and at the right of the tab, click on Options. The settings will be there.
