Hi jeff :)

So what you're asking us is to have access to a Control Panel utility that will allow you to control your Wireless Access Points (manage them) ? Or an equivalent Dell software for it ?

I guess it's the program you can use to manage your Wireless Controller, connect to WiFi networks, set up saved networks, etc. Just checked it up and that's what I found on it. Not being able to access it isn't a major issue and you can run your computer without it.

Gday.

When you do Ztruker's instruction, you may see that Windows is managing your wireless network.   If the Dell utility is the manager, here is some info.

Dell Wireless LAN 1395 is there for Vista 32 bit: Dell Wireless (Except US,Japan) WLAN Card, Wireless 1390 WLAN MiniCard,

Dell WLAN 1395.jpg

I wouldn't expect to see the Dell WLAN Utility in Control Panel. It will be a link off of the Start Menu and if running should have an icon in on the Task Bar in the System Tray area (right side).

Is it running, do you see it in Task Manager, Process tab?

there is a icon for dell wlan card utility in control panel

it could have been put there by the pc's previous owner

its a wireless config. utility

no icon in toolbar for dell card,

i think wireless connection is being manged by windows as someone said in previous post

there is a dell wlan wireless network tray applet

running in task manager

its a 1395 minicard according to device manager.

would the 1390 be better.

i find access to it in control panel, start menu, and networking and sharing center

weird thing is every chance i get to access it,i click it but nothing opens

i am downloading a driver from dell as we speak, but connection is slow.

should take 10 to 20 min or more.

1390 === 1395, they are the same. It's really a 1390 family driver.

See here to check if Windows is managing your Wireless. If so that's a good thing, leave it.
