Hello again guys

nice to see your still going from strength to strength

I appear to have picked up a little problem with my windows xp installation, everytime i boot up i get a little windows box stating " GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT ERROR, PLEASE DELETE FILE". Now i'm assuming something nasty has decided to nest in my boot up folder, but having set my AV, spybot, adware, HJT on its trail, ive had no sucess in locating the little blighter!

Any chance you could point me in the right direction please folks, cause im stumped!

hmm have you tried a repair installation of XP?

could be also the harddrive but that could be a stretch to say

Is there any other info? A file name, DLL, or module shown?

Often GPF errors are caused by hardware problems. A memory check would be a good place to start.

Memtest86 is the memory testing program we recommend: http://www.memtest86.com

Memtest86 is a stand alone program that cannot be executed under windows and must
be loaded from a floppy disk.

To install Memtest86:
- Extract the files from the zip archive
- Open the directory where the files were extracted and click on "install.bat".
- The install program will prompt you for the floppy drive and also prompt you to
insert a blank floppy.
- To run Memtest86 leave the floppy in the drive and reboot.

NOTE: After the boot floppy has been created you will not be able to read the floppy
from windows. This is normal.
