I haven't had any more problems with my display freezing since I updated the drivers.. Yay! .. And, updating the drivers actually fixed another problem I've been having for a little over a year, but this morning a new issue has come up.
I'll start from the beginning. Last year, my display didn't seem to be responding to one of the function keys that controls screen brightness. The screen brightness was "stuck" on the brightest setting and I couldn't dim it using the F9 function key, nor in the Power settings. After I updated the drivers the other day, the F9 key started working... until this morning. I had used the F9 key to dim the screen to the dimmest setting, but when I tried to brighten it using the F10 key, nothing happened. I restarted the laptop and tried again. Still nothing. Then I shut the laptop down and restarted it. Tried again. Nothing. I tried the other function keys and they all work fine, so I went to my Power settings. Everything was set as it's always been, but I noticed that the sliding adjuster for the brightness at the bottom of that window was at it's dimmest point still. I moved it towards the brighter end and my screen brightened, but only halfway, even though the slider shows to be at it's brightest.
Any suggestions?
(Note: About the same time that I started having problems with that function key, I installed something called GeForce Experience. I can't remember very clearly, but it seems like it had something to do with NVIDIA. The way it was presented, it seemed like to me that it was something I was suppose to have. I actually looked it up online and it appeared to be legitimate. It wasn't long after I installed it, that I started having that function key problem. I've wondered many times if that could be in connection somehow to the problem, and I've thought about uninstalling it, but I'm not sure if it's important for me to have it.)
