I have had nothing but failures trying install modem booster (mb80.exe)  onto my XP system. It always returns with a runtime error message about 61.332. And requests a retry, abort or ignore response. How can I defeat this runtime error so my software will install correctly?

Hi khazarian :)

Can you confirm that this is the program you want to install ?

http://www.inklinegl...s/modembooster/

Also, could you copy/paste the exact error message in here please ?

Appreciate the fast response. The installation of the .exe file generates the following error: Attached File  Clip.bmp.zip   1.11MB   161 downloads

I am attempting to install modem booster8 from Inklineglobal.com

I thought it might be of interest that I have had GlarySoftUtilities installed for over a year and have only used it for encryption purposes. It never tweaked my registry files..

Here is another example with a different but similar runtime error code.

Other softwares will install on the system so I am considering installing SlimCleanerPlus to run a battery of tests related to the runtime problem. I have nCleaner second generation installed but have not yet used it to clean the registry. I've also alerted the software seller about the runtime issue. They wanted to know what OS I'm running. It does not appear to be browser related because the same error occurs with both IE8 and OperaNext.

I got mb8.exe to a successful install. It merely required that I install the VS2008 9.0.21022 package. Same thing for nCleaner 2nd generation.

Has anyone used SlimCleaner from SlimWare with good results? My system is rather slow and certain web pages take an inordinate amount of time to load. Running jv16 shows the registry health at 1% and system health at 24%. I've never had experience using a registry cleaner.

You shouldn't use a Registry Cleaner khazarian. They are pretty much useless and don't solve any issues, nor they improve your system performance. Read this article : Why Using a Registry Cleaner Won’t Speed Up Your PC or Fix Crashes.

Now what is the current issue ? That your system is running slow ? Then let's start with the basics : bloat.
  • Download MiniToolBox;
  • Execute it;
  • Check the "List Installed Programs" checkbox;
  • Click on "Go";
  • Copy/paste the content of the output log on in your next reply here;

NOW I HAVE A RATHER PERPLEXING PROBLEM THAT'S DRIVING ME SLIGHTLY LOONEY-TOONEY. I ALWAYS RECEIVE THE ERROR: "WINDOWS - NO DISK IN DRIVE"  PLEASE INSERT A DISK INTO DRIVE/DEVICE/HARDDRIVE2/DR4" whenever I try to open the micro flash memory sdhc card from my cellphone. The files display for about 10 secs and then disappear.  This card is not new; roughly 2 years old.  All my other micro sdhc cards do not have any  similar symptoms. I've done a fair amount of research on the net but have yet to find a resolution.

Concerning your programs, here are my recommendations :
  • Uninstall Adobe Reader 9.2 and install the latest version from here. Do not accept the McAfee Security Scan Plus offer, uncheck it[/url];
  • Uninstall AVG SafeGuard Toolbar - It's a spyware;
  • Uninstall AVG PC TuneUP - I'll tell you straight up, this is a USELESS SOFTWARE. It's only BLOATED and SLOW DOWN your system. Please uninstall it and on next restart, you'll notice a big performance increase;
  • Uninstall AVG and change Antivirus - AVG is a terrible Antivirus : takes a lot of resources, bad detection rates, comes with a spyware (the AVG SageGuard Toolbar), etc. I would honestly change Antivirus for a more light-weight one like Avast! free or Avira free;
  • Driver Installer - Never use 3rd-party softwares to handle your drivers;
  • DriverToolkit - Never use 3rd-party softwares to handle your drivers;
  • Uninstall Java 7 Update 55 - Install the latest version, Java 7 Update 65 from here. Do NOT accept the Ask Toolbar offer;
  • Uninstall jv16 Power Tools - These kind of softwares are useless and cause way more problems than they solve. Same thing as AVG PC Tune Up;
  • Uninstall WinRAR - Install the latest version, WinRAR 5.10;
Let's start with this. We have more uninstall and update to do after.

Ok, did everything except  install Java7u65. It would download up to 85% and then say it lost the connection and terminate. But I was able to download Java7. I deleted all my previous restore points to free up more memory.

Solved the specific runtime error problem(Out of range) when trying to install Modem Booster8. Used msconfig to stop the startup program avastui.exe. Explorer wouldn't allow me to end the process in Taskmanager.
