The wireless mouse and keyboard I have been using on my old XP desktop ---- can I use that mouse on my new laptop, with W8.1? I assume it will not interfere with laptop's keyboard, right? Thanks. ...batpark

Hi batpark, Your wireless mouse & keyboard, do they have a flash drive reciever or the small memory card reader? As long as your new laptop had enough reader spots i wouldn't see a problem?

HMHY: I don't know the mouse characteristics. It is a Logitek M340.?

What is a "reader spot"; where are they?

Thanks for your patience.  ...batpak

Your mouse and keyboard are wireless so there is a chip attached to your pc in some way correct? The wireless mouse i have has a small little (chip) That looks like a SIM card out of a phone. You attach it in the side of the laptop in order to get signal to the mouse. Is yours the same way?

Either way bud i think you should be fine! It should not mess with the original keyboard.

Thank you all. I plugged the USB gadget that comes with the mouse into a USb port on the laptop and it all works fine. ...batpark
