Download and run CWShredder from:
http://www.intermute...r_download.html
Use the Fix button.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.neynet.com/n/r.html

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {74A347E9-00DD-DF81-8CE2-A04879A46C56} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Generic Host Process] C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
O6 - HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

O16 - DPF: {1D0D9077-3798-49BB-9058-393499174D5D} - file://c:\counter.cab

Reboot into safe mode and delete:
C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe <= BEWARE: the real file is in the C:\WINDOWS\System32 folder. Do NOT try to delete that one

I would advise you to uninstall the ViewPoint manager under Add/Remove Software.

Thank you so much! I have run CWShredder several times -- it keeps finding a problem and then fixing it, but then after I re-boot CWShredder finds the same problem again. I guess I am getting re-infected???

I will try the hijackthis fixes.

Thank you so, so much. I am a newbie and am panicking a bit over all this trouble, but I am determined to get my computer fixed so I can get back to work.

Hooray -- my computer seems to be fixed!!! You are a wonderful genius.

I did the Hijackthis fixes and removed the errant svchost.exe file and deleted the viewpoint manager. I then re-booted and ran cwshredder again and it came up clean. Wish I could remember what it kept picking up before, but I can't. If it happens again I will let you know.
