dvd rom problem

i finally decided to put a dvd-r on my computer. but now after putting it, the dvd rom drive i already had doesn t work. it acts as if there is no disc inside. i m sure my master - slave settings are ok. the device itself is ok, i tried it on another computer, it just refuses to work along with my dvd-r. any suggestions please?

Yes it is. But I ve also tried the opposite, but it was still the dvd rom that did not work

Maybe try a different ribbon cable, or set the jumpers to CS (Cable Select).
