What would be the lightest, most effective screen recorder in everyones opinion ? I have CamStudio running Lossless Codec v1.5 to help it save space. But it still seems so big and when it runs along with other programs it takes a drag out on my CPU Usage. Or i assume. It makes everything running run at a slower pace.. I do not use screen recorder that often but when i do want to use it i have to literally close the rest of my programs/software in order for it to finish at a reasonable hour. Pfff

I think that the Open Broadcaster Software (free and open-source) can also take simple recording of your screen and it works well :

I don't use that program, but a lot of people do and have a good comments on it.
Maybe it's not meant for simple recording but only streaming.

Hi HelpMeHelpYou,

I use the Debut from NCH myself. It's a good basic program. You may consider paying for it if it suits your needs and if you can. If not you can downgrade to the free version. Beware! I read comments from other users that it may try to install ask toolbar in  the newer versions (I'm using an older version). You need to uncheck the offer before installing it.

I recenty tried IceCream Screen Recorder, the only thing is that you can only save videos as MKV files and no other formats are available. But as for the rest, it works pretty decent

Camtasia Studio is the best.

TechSmith Camtasia Studio helps users capture screen with online videos, powerpoint, multichannel audio, and webcam videos to create tutorial videos and presentations. Videos are exported in different formats with high audio and image quality. Users can select to record the videos with optional size.

TechSmith Camtasia Studio also allows you to customize the parameters of output videos such as frame rate to store on websites, DVD, HD player, or share on YouTube. Besides, this application can also automatically zoom screen size by clicking. You can also change the displaying angles, insert Zoom layers, add images, or audio for videos.

TechSmith Camtasia Studio enables users to add notes to videos and display them in the preset time. Quick searching tools allow users to skip or move texts on videos recorded from PowerPoint. This application will make use of notes or title of each slide for automatic searching. Thefore, it is a must-have application for users, particularly those who often have to make presentation or communicate with clients
