Sorry Chicklet I was assisted on other forums !
The Startup type of that CD/DVD-ROM will need to be changed via the Registry directly, however I have no clear instructions on how to do so right now as I don't want to send you in the Registry like that, it could be dangerous. For the Communication Port, I wonder if you're still using it or not. If it's not being used, I wouldn't worry about it not being able to start to be honest.

Alright :)
Now would be a good time to create ourself a backup in case something goes wrong in the future. What we'll do, is use a tool called DelFix to delete all your precedent System Restore point and create a fresh new one that we can use if you ever need to do a System Restore in the future.
  • Download Delfix by clicking HERE;
  • Execute Delfix by double-clicking on it;
  • Make sure to check the following checkboxe:
    • Create registry backup
    • Purge system restore
    • Reset system settings
  • Once everything is checked, click on Run;
  • After the program is done running, Notepad will open with a log. Please copy/paste the content of the log here;

Very good :)
If you followed all the steps in the website you linked, updated/uninstalled the programs I recommend and installed both your Ethernet and Graphic card drivers, you should be good to go. Along with having reinstalled the Curse Client. So the main issue is now fixed, right ?
The only things left are these three missing drivers that I'm looking into right now.

Well if you give me until tomorrow morning (going to Ned), I'll review the list of installed programs you posted and make you uninstall everything that isn't essentials and leave you what you need to run your computer normally ? Is that good ? :)

Hello!

 I don't want to steep on any ones toes, but I have yet to see where a backup image of the OS has been recommended.

W7 makes it very easy. A restore point can be very useful, but it can't compare to a back up image created on a flash or DVD's, and placed in a safe place.

Very simple to do, and very foolish if you don't add this protection to your arsenal.

That's my 2cents, and now I'll mind my own business. You should also create a system repair CD.

PS It's even better if you create the image with a third partly App.
