I have a dell inspiron 1000 laptop that will not boot. The screen does not come on and the only led lights are the power and the battery on the bottom of the keyboard by the mouse. The fan fan runs and thats it. The cd drive will not open. The laptop is only 4 months old and Dell will not fix it. Any help will be appreciated.

Why not? Sounds like it may be a bad power supply.

sounds like one of a few things. bad PSU, fried mobo, dead CPU fan/bad heatsink, or you might need to reseat the RAM. those are all things i have had to fix, when the symptoms were like the ones you have.
