ok, so unreadable does'nt necessarily mean bad? ok, now This is a dell, I don't think I got disks with this? should I get dell on the phone to order the reinstallation disc? or maybe I can download it?

I know I'm being impatient, but this is causing my hair to fall out waiting for this scan to finish. OK, I'll take a breath and wait it out. If it's not done by 5 my time I'm going home to get drunk, and hit it again in the morning. so if you don't hear back from me in the next 2 hours, glug, glug glug!  :>

thx again

You'll have to wait for the scan to finish. That's all you can do for now unfortunately.
You could ask Dell to send you a Windows 7 reinstallation DVD, yes, but I think they charge you for that. What I would do is to grab an official Windows 7 .iso by Microsoft on the web (I have the links if needed), install your Windows on a new SSD/HDD if you get one (implying that the current HDD isn't failing) and use the product key on the sticker on your computer to activate it.

For the donation part, it's the first time that someone asks me this, so here's the thread by admin :)

OK Good Morning, but I doubt a good day.

apparently it was stuck on

"file verification completed

deleting orphan file record segment 1183."

all night, was on my screen this morning I had to do a forced shut down, I was prompted to do th chkdsk again, but did'nt see the point so cancled it,

computer has booted up, I hav'nt had a chance to do anything yet, will report back, but I doubt there's any improvement.

ok, starting up quicker now, and I thought it was less buggy, I tried running a glarys utility scan, and seemed to be going ok, till it got to the disk repair scan, crashed on me.
