Hi people. recently when watching Tekzilla, I heard that there are 3rd party or open source firmware available for wireless routers. And I believe perhaps I would benefit by installing this open source firmware. I am hoping it may increase my security, and my performance. Does anyone have experience doing this without turning their routers into bricks?

I have a Netgear WNR2500. And I was wondering if someone would be willing to give this doofus a step by step guide about how to install new firmware onto it? I would very much appreciate it.

As I understand there are two places to get firmware? Or maybe I am wrong...one was

openwrt.org

and the other

http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index

but....when I search WNR2500, I do not get results. Does this mean my router has no open source firmware?

Thank you

I'm confused... what does my previous thread have to do with this question?
