OK, we will start removing some programs.   Please tell me if the first program I suggest is alight.

f.lux.   this is supposed to automatically adjust the brightness of your display, dependent on the ambient light in your room.

Create a restore point, call it f.lux.

Start Revo Uninstaller, > click f.lux.  Then, on the top menu, > click uninstall. > in the window that opens, > click Yes. in the window that opens, > click the 3rd radio button down next to Moderate, > click Next.  A installation wizard for f.lux will open, > click nest, then follow any prompts until it has finished.

On the Revo window, > click next,   When the scan is completed, > click next

On the window that opens, tick boxes that only have Bolded text beside them, > then click Delete, > click yes, > click Next.

Revo will scan again and a new window will open with boxes again.

> click the + sign beside every box, > tick only boxed that have Bolded text beside them, > then click Delete, Click yes, > click next

When Revo has completed, > click Finish.  Restart the computer if needed.

Just so you know I did uninstall some programs even though you advised not to because they are totally irrelevant fluff that was on

here when I inherited the Dell.

They are:

Bob the Builder

Family Tree Heritage

Horsez

IHRA Drag Racing

Let's Ride Corral Club

My Fantasy Wedding

Nancy Drew

Attached is the current Revo with those programs uninstalled.

As far as the brightness of the monitor f.lux does not seem to do much of anything. Although I think because the brightness adjustment on the monitor

does not work. There is a button on the front of the monitor that brings up a display and to hit up and down buttons to adjust different things - brightness is

just one. Well, I tried the buttons and they do not do anything to make a selection. So I think it just does not work.

F.lux makes a big difference on my Mac. It's wonderful if you are using your computer in the evening.

The controls on the monitor may be faulty.   Try reducing the contrast.   See if you can disable F.lux then try the controls again.

Most of the programs you have left, You probable need.   Just one I would remove is, Download Manager and Options. see first link.   Just bookmark the link, do not download the program.   Use it to find out about any program you have installed.   Type the name of the program in the top search box, press ent then click on the program in the results, then decide what you want to do.

I would still like to see your startup list and device manager.

Start Revo.  > go full screen.

On the top bar, > click the Tools tab.  A new window will open.

On the left, > Click the Autorun Manager.  Take a screenshot.

****************

On the left, > click Windows Tools, In the right window, > click System Properties.\In the System Properties window, at the top, > click Hardware then > click Device Manager. then go full screen and take a screenshot.   > close all open windows.

***********

Click start, > click Run, Copy and paste the bolded text in the run box, diskmgmt.msc > click OK. then go full screen and take a screenshot.

Please include all 3 shots in your next reply.

The up and down keys actually work fine. I just used them here. They do not work on the desktop menu to make selections for brightness etc. I dunno.

Maybe I am just tired but I have the screen shots but I cannot figure out how to save them to the desktop so I can attach them here.

That is al I can do. I do NOT have system privileges or whatever it said to copy and paste them here,

I was referring to trying the monitor controls/buttons, not making alterations using the keyboard.

How to upload a file or image to G2G.

First, > click the More Reply Options, (bottom right next to the blue reply button.) > Type in your text.

If the file or image already exists, > Click Choose file... (bottom left) or see the next part to capture an image.

In the window that opens, > Browse to the file or image you want to upload, > Click the file you want, wait for confirmation at bottom left,

Repeat if you have more files/images to upload, > When finished click Reply button.

To capture and post a screenshot; Instruction are for anyone who is unsure of the steps..

With the image you want displayed on the screen.
> Hold down the ALT key and Press the PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side of the keyboard.   (nothing appears to happen, but the image is copied to the Clipboard.)

> Click on start...all programs...accessories...paint.

In the window that opens, >  left click in the white area  > Hold down CTRL and press V.

On the top menu, > click File > click Save as, Be sure to save as jpeg,...otherwise it may be to big to upload

save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing.

Hi,

I don't think you are understanding what I am writing about.

Earlier I saved the Revo full screen shots to the desktop and gave them a name -  Revo 1, Revo 2 etc. I don't know how I saved them and gave them a name anymore. There is NO file save as.

The only way I can post the full Revo screen shot you want is to attach it.

I know how to copy/paste. It does not let me - I get this message - 'you are not allowed to use that image extension on this community.'

That is why I sent them as an attachment and there would be a screenshot in the body of the message as well.

Gday.

You cannot attach a file to the body of text, it will not show.   The only method is to use the attach file at bottom left of the reply window.  The Revo images you saved must be in a unsuported file type, please delete them and take fresh images.

In Paint, when the image is on the screen,

On the top menu , > click File, > click Save As

In the window that opens, in the name box, type, Revo 1. Just under, is the file type box,

Click the down arrow, > select jpeg,  > click the Save button

.

.
