This problem has been discussed on this forum (here); suggested fixes under that thread haven't worked for me.

Symptoms:

"Open in New Window" option from the right-click dropdown menu doesn't work. No results when clicking on links with target="_blank". JavaScript window.open() function causes an "Access Denied" error.

I'm running IE6; the About window lists these details. "IE version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.050301-1526CO
Update versions: SP1; Q331906; Q832894; Q837009; Q823353; Q831167;" The OS is Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 1.

Here's what I did so far to try fixing the problem.

Step 1:

SpyBot S&D found and removed a couple items.
AdAware SE found and removed Alexa, along with several tracking cookies.
CWShredder found no problems.
There are no "Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products" installed.

Step 2:

Ewido Security Suite found 6 instances of Trojan.Reboot and one file infected with Worm.Nimda; these files were cleaned/removed.

Trend Housecall found nothing.

I didn't install AVG because we already have Symantec Antivirus installed, and updates are pushed to our workstations.

Step 3:

I'm in a corporate environment where all updates are pushed to our machines from the administrator. This means I can't use Windows Update; they've decided not to update us to SP2 yet.

Step 4:

Rebooted several times throughout the entire process. On each reboot I checked to see whether the problem had gone away, but it never did.

Step 5:
