Hi guys,

 

I would like to know what is the best method for storing my .iso files of Mint, Kali and Backtrack linux distros. I've them on my internal hard drive and I wanted to save them for future use on a removable media and delete them off.

What kind of removable media do you have??

I have a seagate 1TB external drive. If I want to save some thing, I just right click it and send it to the external drive.

Yeah sorry for the confusion donetao, I wanted to have them on DVDs. I don't have an external HD with me currently.

You just put a DVD in your DVD drive. Right click what you want to put on the DVD and send it!

I think I'm confused on what your wanting to do!

Sorry I don't know. I have lots of ISO files in my down load folder. I put them on my external drive unopened if I want to save them!

[DSTM]

 Disc Image Files (ISO) can be burnt from your Downloads Folder to disc with any program that handles ISO's including Windows Disc Image Burner.

I burn ISO's often. I use DVD-R Blanks and burn at x4 where possible.

Hi. Right click on the ISO in your downloads folder. You should get a popup box. the top line should read "Burn Disc Image".

Left click on "Burn Disc Image"text.  Another popup will show which is the Burner. Put a check mark in the " Verify Image after Burning" at the bottom. Insert blank Disc and click on the burn Box at the bottom. Wait till fully finished.

Hello!

I don't know about Linux. DSTM is probably right. If you have W7!

if you have windows 7 just double click on the .ISO file and burn away...no other program is necessary...
it even opens the correct tray if you have more than 1 optical drive...
I recommend you put a tick in the verify box

Thank you for the links donetao, I use ImgBurn myself. The iso burnt fine with ImgBurn. But I had this doubt from the start, we burn some program files (exe) or media files to media the usual way, but is the process the same for an iso to use it later? I did a little search and found that an iso can be burnt in a similar way for backup purposes.
