HI Geeks!

So I have been have this issue the past few days. My computer shuts off at what seems to be random intervals. At least, I think it's shutting off... the computer still seems to keep "humming" but my monitors can no longer receive a signal. If I am playing music, it stop playing and gives me this skipping/repeating sound. Any ideas what it could be? I have never had any issues with the computer outside of a few unexplained BSOD's last year that just went away after awhile.

Hello!

Go in to your Reliability Monitor and see if you can get a clue to what's happening on your PC!

http://www.howtogeek...ou-arent-using/

Have you tried going into safe mode to see if your still having the problem!

If your computer is unstable normally but works fine in Safe Mode, it’s likely that there’s a software problem causing your computer to crash. However, if the computer continues to crash in safe mode, this is often a sign that there’s a hardware problem with your computer. (Note that stability in Safe Mode doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a hardware problem. For example, your graphics card may be faulty and causing crashes under load. However, it may be stable in Safe Mode because your computer isn’t performing demanding operations with it.)

Hi donetao!

I can confirm that safe mode does not give me the problem. In fact, the issue seems to stem from me using Google Chrome, as I am able to use Firefox without incident. When going into the Reliability Monitor, the only information it gives me is VIDEO HARDWARE ERROR.

Hello!

If you think it's Chrome, you could try resetting Chrome!

Ah, that's not the issue. It looks like my graphics card is running amazingly hot. 102 C (!!!). Is there anything I can do about this?

Hello!

When is the last time you cleaned out the dust?

Is your fan running? Try cleaning with compressed air.

Do you have a desk top or lap top?

How come it runs ok with Firefox??

Video Hardware Error could very well mean the graphics card is the cause of your problem!!
