ok just for grins I downloaded the install executable for firefox to my other computer and moved it to my laptop and installed it. Firefox would go to https:\\www.google.com and the www.mywot.com that I can't get to in my explorer. Should I just do the same with the install executable for explorer?

A reset of IE might be simpler at just as effective. Reset Internet explorer, see Here

This might not be the exact instructions for your version of IE, but I think you'll be able to work through it. If not, let me know :)
