Hi, though never tried it myself, I have heard that it may be slower depending on how much RAM the computer has, if a 64bit running Vista or Windows 7 and the RAM is higher than 4GB it may not be too bad, 6GB or more, even better is the information I was given.

XP mode is a virtual version of XP running inside of your windows 7 system so you have to have enough resources to run two systems at the same time basically. depending on the game you may run into graphics issues as the virtual system is using a virtual graphics card basically.

have you tried installing the games in "compatibility mode"? have you just tried installing them in win7 to see what happens?

I am looking for a new PC.  I am going to get a machine with at least 16 GB of RAM.  I am considering is Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate worth it for XP mode?

I won't use anything other than Pro, from XP thorough Vista, 7 and 8.

I'd forget about XP Mode though and go with Oracle VirtualBox or VMWare.
