Hey guys... hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

My motherboard is really ****, but anyways im looking to upgrade the CPU to further feed my gaming addiction.

 

Budget - Max of £55, but could be persuaded to go higher.

 

OS - Windows 7, 64bit

Motherboard - ASRock > G31M - S

Side note - I have a CPU from a previous build that is definetly better but, I don't want to just assume if it fits it works, haven't tried to fit it yet tho... unfortunatly I don't have the CPU make/model/type.. w/e as there are no markings on it that indicate this info. I can tell you that it's currently fitted in a P23G (V3.0) FSB 1066. is it worth trying to fit it, or would i be taking a risk in damaging my build if not supported?

The CPU is all good with your MB but before you purchase take a look at the less expensive but better CPU here this CPU will allow for the faster 1333MHz Ram to be used.

 

As an asides, don't you just love those Amazon sellers charging £4.59 for delivery 

 

 

RE your edit, not sure what you think is better about the PC Chips MB/CPU as the fastest FSB CPU that MB will accept is the slower 1066MHz, specs here

In my current build i only have 2, 1gig ram 800mhz ddr2...Yes, i belive an upgrade is needed here too haha. I'll most likely be ordering some new shiny RAM to go with a CPU

So if im understanding right, even though my MB dosen't support 1333RAM with the correct CPU i could Upgrade to 1333RAM?

The CPU in my old MB I remember being a DUO of sorts, which is why i belive it to be better than my current one.

 

Quick question... when replacing a CPU do I have to download a correct driver ect or face the inevetable BSOD?

Best upgrade option is still the one here

 

The CPU that you asked about and the one that I have suggested are compatible with your MB so you should have no problems with any blue screens.
