I installed an EVGA Geforce GTX 750Ti on my HP Pavilion p7-1298cb today.  When I boot it up, the HP splash screen pops up and stays on it for about a minute before it changes to a black screen. When I remove the graphics card the computer works fine, since it already has an integrated card.  Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

The first thing I would check is your Power Supply specs

 

HP list that you should have a 300 watt PSU and that is the minimal PSU requirement for your card but the issue may be the amps on the 12V rail (for your card you should have a minimum of 20 amps) HP website does not indicate how much amp your PSU has on the 12V rail.

 

Also 300w is the minimum and it will always depends on what hardware you are running on your computer (the more you have the less your PSU will have for each parts)

So will I have to upgrade my Power Supply?

You might need to upgrade but first you should make sure that your new card is working properly and you can do that if possible by either trying your new card in another computer system or if not possible for you you can also try to borrow a PSU from a friend that is at least 450w with at least 20amps on the +12v rail.

 

If the card is confirm good then you will have to upgrade your PSU

Just tested the card on a friend's custom built computer.  It works.  Looks like it's probably my power supply.  I'll buy a larger PSU and buy a better graphics card.  Thanks for the help.
