Just had a complete format and re-install done on Windows XP Pro.  Cannot import videos or video files to WMM as messages indicate that proper Codecs are not on my PC.  In options panel on WMM  under General tab "download codecs automatically" is checked off.  Any ideas?

What OS do you have, XP, Vista Win 7 or 8?

I'd recommend installing and using VLC Media Player instead of WMP.

Otherwise, Google can help with this: codecs for windows media player

Ah, sorry. I read Windows Media Player instead of Windows Movie Maker.

See here: Codec for Windows Movie Maker.
