Check your email settings. I'm guessing you have POP setup on one device and IMAP setup on another. If you're using Gmail on multiple devices, they should all be set to IMAP.

Get started with IMAP and POP3

In my opinion, configuring your email on you phone using the imap server is the cause of the problem. I vent back to pop3 and the problem disappeared.
