I placed many connected photos and videos on my memory stick. But, after going home, while viewing those photos and videos in my computer, it suddenly stopped responding and forced me to format. When I disconnected it and tried it there again, the same thing happened again. Honestly, I had saved a copy of these photos and images on online storage. But, this copy had not been updated for nearly a month and many new photos and videos were not there. So, I wonder whether I can rescue these videos and images back from this memory stick. What can I do to rescue them back? Do I have to firstly format this memory stick? Thank you for any suggestion!

First and most importantly, do not reformat the stick.

Can you try it on another computer, that will at least check if it is your computer or the stick. Let us know that first please.

Hey, Brucele! From my understanding, first thing to do is stop using this memory stick immediately and also do not format it. The more you use it, the more chances your needed images and videos inside would be overwritten. And then, plunge it to computer and try some data recovery software to take your needed card contents back.

But, if that doesn't do it, you'll have to decide if these stuffs are worth an insignificant amount of money for professional recovery services.

Note: Double check your memory stick data carefully before any deleting or formatting process in the future.

That’s why one is suggested to make data backups and also updated its backups after doing any change. Just remind yourself to update your online backups regularly in the future.

But, now, insert this memory stick to computer and download data recovery software to see whether your photos and videos could be rescued. Start this application, deep Scan this memory stick, preview and restore all needed stuffs back. And then, format this memory stick to fix its possible problems and make everything ok!

Here is a video tutorial that may let you know more detailed stuffs:

Hope my words can help you somehow.
