SPECS:
I just invested in a new hard drive, Seagate barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB HDD
old card drive: Seagate Barracuda 750 GB HDD
I have AMD Anthlon ll X2 235e Dual core processor
6GB DDR2 memory
(I'm sure this changed due to change in hard drive)
Some Power Specfics :
INPUT: 100 -127v ~/7A 60Hz; 220-240v ~ / 3.5A, 50 Hz
OUTPUT: =12v1 /10A _ 3.3v/20A _ 5v /16A _ 12v2/12A _ 5vsb / 2A _ -12v/0.5A
Max:300 watts

Problem:
When trying to boot my computer when fist installing the Hard drive, It informed me nothing was on the hard drive, soon giving me a option to recover, then it started to and it informed me of a disk write error, and gave me the option to continue.
I then got a blank screen with a blinking cursor.
I turned off my computer uninstalled the hard drive, put in the old one and the old one still SUCKS (surprise there)
I then put in the new one restarted my computer and i am still receiving a blinking cursor.
I was told you cant boot E-machine without a recovery disk.
I was also told nothing is on the hard drive to boot.
I'm considering removing my CMOS.
Is there anything i can do to fix this?
Is my hard drive DOA?
HEELLPP!

Do not think your Hard Drive is DOA unless you tested it (computer sees it)

Question 1: Did you start your pc with only your new Hard Drive connected, if yes then you will not be able to boot from it since it is a blank drive and no Operating System is on it.

Question 2: When you say your old Hard Drive still sucks do you know the why it sucks, is it a faulty drive or a faulty (damage) windows installation.

Emachines computers usually have an hidden partition on it's original hard drive containing the recovery files needed to either fix your OS or reinstall to factory default your OS.

Try to download the bootable iso image os Seatools from Seagate and burn it on a CD and then boot from the CD to verify the health of your Drive

When you say that with the new drive installed it was giving you the option to recover, the reason it did not work was that there was no hidden partition on your drive with the files needed to do a recovery.

Did you try to use your computer using both drive connected and making sure your old one is the one you boot from.
