I switched to cable web and uninstalled AOL from my wife's XP system. Now her son can't find a bunch of old email he was saving via his AOL membership.

I did find a good number of old files, folders, jpg's etc, but he says his personal files are gone.

I was reasonably careful to remove only system files and folders and didn't see any personal stuff in the files/folders I removed.

His AOL account is still active. Aren't his files actually stored out on AOL? Can't he still log into AOL and use his files?

Embarrased.....

Welcome bikealatte, I believe they can be stored on AOL servers, but I think the default is to store them locally. FileCabinet folder I believe.
