i bought a new phone on aliexpress, it is working very well for a really cheap phone.

but...

the android version is 4.2.9 and it is lacking some features.

most important, it doesnt have version update in settings.

also, i downloaded some weather widgets from the appstore  but they dont appear as widgets and dont appear on the widget page in apps.

i have downloaded a keyboard but googles keyboard keeps terning it off and it is not optional to tern googles keyboard off.

 

i really need help

 

is the 4.2.9 really an android version or is it also a Chinese copy?

how can i replace this version?

do i have to root the device for all this?

how dangerous is rooting myself if i dont really know what i am doing? (i dont have any warranty, so this isnt the issue)

Android 4.2 is Jelly Bean ( nicknames they give different versions )
Now I know they had version 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 which are basically
patches for Jelly Bean rather than a whole new OS.

But I believe they went straight to 4.3 after that. Which was
Just an updated version of Jelly Bean.

Maybe your phone is a Chinese knock off. Think about
Where u got it from and that would probably tell you right there.

Unfortunately your probably going to continue to run into
Issues with this phone since the OS might be based on Android
Source code, but was not put out by Google.
And therefor not supported by Google.

There's probably not much you can do about this.

your phone have a false OS, android 4.2.9 doesn't existe, and i am sure that you remail blocked with this OS, no update possible
